1983, when Dirk Winter purchased the land and built his first hotel,

Otter Inn, Moonstone Hotel Properties has established a quiet but
significant presence on California’s Central Coast and beyond.
The company has
now grown to 9 hotels, a full-service nursery and florist, a landscape division, a hotel management division,
a botanical garden management division and a
construction company. As growth continues, Mr. Winter remains
committed to retaining our reputation for exquisite boutique hotels with
beautiful grounds in West Coast destinations.
