Immortalized
by the photographs of Ansel Adams and created by the tireless efforts of
naturalist John Muir, Yosemite National Park stands in silent tribute to
the forces of Mother Nature.
The
awe-inspiring mountain and valley scenery will take your breath away.
Your first encounter with this phenomenon will be as you exit the Wawona
tunnel on the south entrance road. The splendor of the valley, the
massive cliff face of El Capitan and the graceful Bridalveil Falls will
amaze you.
There
are numerous hiking and biking trails traversing the park.
A popular half-day hike takes you to
dramatic Vernal Falls, plunging over 300 feet to an angular run through
large granite boulders. Two miles farther along, the same trail will
bring you to Nevada Falls, a 600-foot waterfall of cooling mist. Day
hikers usually retrace their steps back from here. Continuing on from
this point, however, will eventually bring you to a junction with the
famous John Muir trail which runs on up into the high country through
some of the most dramatic alpine scenery in the Sierra. For information
